Lusso Tan Review

Image
As it stands I have 15 bottles of fake tan in my possession. Different brands, different shades, liquids, mousses, lotions, you name it, I have it! So when I got the chance to add another brand to my collection I was eager to see how Lusso Tan compared to some of my favourites. Application What excited me most about trying this tan is that I received a primer to use with the it, which initially seemed unnecessary, but thinking about it now, it kinda makes sense. You'd use a primer for makeup so why not one for your tan? This primer was just a clear liquid " to enrich the bronzing effect of any self tanning product or professional spray tan". The brand has a few different types of tan to choose from and I was delighted to receive the mousse, which is always my preferred type of formula. Like with most other tanning mousses' the Lusso Tan applied smoothly and dried quick enough. I also give it top marks for not completely destroying my bed sheets, pyjamas and fiancΓ©e. R...

SoSu Dripping Gold Review

Image
This has to be one of the most controversial fake tans I have ever tried, so an in depth review is needed! Ever since Suzanne Jackson released her hotly anticipated fake tan 'Dripping Gold' the reviews have been quite mixed to say the least. I've definitely seen a few people slate it with just as many raving about it. So as a fake tan aficionado I had to try out this product for myself. Price I picked up the tan in my local Penneys for €20. For full disclosure I did pay for this myself, I used a voucher Penneys Head Office had given me, after I found my cotton pads from there were riddled with dead insects. So the decision to buy, use and review the tan was completely my own. Application I went with the shade Dark, as the Ultra Dark sounds a bit intense for my 'so pale it's almost blue' skin. The product is a mousse - definitely my preferred type of tan as mousse always applies quite smoothly. Solid packaging and pump as well which is always important! The tan s...

My Five Fave Palettes

Image
1. Pippa Palette by Blank Canvas I probably got the Pippa Palette about a year after it was launched and even then it was hard to get my hands on. I was ever so slightly underwhelmed when I first saw it as all the shades were very blah . But it turns out blah is good, I am blah! There's six eyeshadows - all matte, a blusher, a bronzer and highlighter. This palette has all the essentials and as you can see it is well used! The colours are very natural and easy to wear, it really is a makeup bag must have. Available here for €34.99 2. Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One Another fantastic palette from the Blank Canvas brand. I managed to pick up this palette at the Irish Beauty Show for €20, instead of the usual price of €35. It was a bit of an impulse buy but I certainly made the right decision. I'd say I've used this nearly ever day since I bought it. The orange/brown colours really suit my eyes and there's a decent selection of colours to mix things up a bit. I did ...

L'Oreal Colorista Washout Colour

Image
As you may have noticed I'm on a pink hair mission at the moment. If I may say so myself, I already have lovely blonde hair (thanks to Daniel Sheridan ) so I don't want to fuck it up  mess with it too much.  First of all I tried the L'Oreal Colorista spray in colour in Pastel Pink, you can read all about it here .  After that worked a treat, I was ready to step things up a notch so I tried the L'Oreal Colorista Washout Colour (in Pastel Pink). Now this only lasts 2-3 washes so once again nothing to dramatic. This is just a classic bottle of hair dye. Basically a tube of pink goo. I just went for it and started rubbing it into my dry hair, as per the instructions. I wanted a kind of ombre/highlights effect so didn't put it near my scalp. Twenty minutes later I rinsed it out, no shampoo or conditioner needed, and ta-dah my hair was pink. So whereas it had done exactly what it said on the box it was a lot brighter than I had hoped for, it was pink-pink rather than past...

My HerClutterBox Makeup Organiser

Image
I recently received a ' ClutterBox ', which is a luxury acrylic makeup organiser, from the Irish company HerClutterBox. Upon receiving it I knew it was much better quality than similar, cheaper ones out there, based on the sheer weight of it. This organiser is seriously sturdy!  I received the four drawer version and was in my element organising it! I have seen pictures of these Clutter Boxes all over the internet so I was dying to get started on mine. I am a bit of a neat freak so already had my makeup pretty well organised, into grubby boxes from old Christmas gift sets. Not very glam. The ClutterBox is a major step up from that and not only does it look great on display, it's also easy to clean if a bit of makeup transfers onto it. So lets's get down to it, you want to know if it's worth the price. As I said I got the four drawer box which has three small drawers and a bottom drawer about twice the dept of the others. This drawer is perfect for storing palettes e...

My Irish Beauty Show Haul

Image
Over the weekend, for the first time ever, I went to The Irish Beauty Show.....and what an experience! As far as I know the show originally started off as a trade show but now anybody can buy a ticket and head on in to stock up on their favourite beauty bits. The RDS hall was jam packed with stands and stalls selling anything and everything beauty related. All the well known names were there including Blank Canvas, Benefit, Real Techniques, Makeup Revolution and Dermalogica...just to name a few. Now this show is not for the faint hearted as it was full to the brim of beauty enthusiasts looking for a bargain, and I of course was one of them. So here's my (mini) haul from my first Irish Beauty Show. My first purchase was these hella cute pom pom shoes, I know....not exactly beauty related, but they were a steal at €15 so I couldn't say no. The brand on the box is Nio Nio but I think they were just being sold by a general trader. Here's a link to a similar pair from eBay: http...

L'Oreal Colorista Spray Review

Image
I have been lusting over pastel pink hair on Pinterest for the longest time! And this weekend I finally got to try out the trend for myself. As this was a bit of an experiment and I didn't want to run the risk of a permanent disastrous 'do, I used the new L'Oreal Colorista wash out hair spray (shade Pastel Pink) from Bradleys Pharmacy . And it's as simple as that, you spray it on and wash it out. No commitment necessary. As I'm quite blonde the colour took to my hair extremely well. The bottle has a narrow nozzle so I gave my hair an all over spray, which gave a light colour. I then took sections of my hair and gave them a close up spray for a more intense colour. Now I did use most of the bottle, so you really only get one or two go's out of it. I absolutely loved the look, it's exactly what I wanted! The colour lasted the whole night and only a small bit of it wore off as I slept. This range definitely has something for everyone. I'm already dying to t...

Hair by Daniel Sheridan @ Maven

Image
I recently stepped out of my comfort zone, of going to the same hairdresser since I was sixteen, and went to the big smoke (Dublin city πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚) to visit Daniel Sheridan at Maven .  The salon Daniel works in, Maven, is beyond incredible. It's in a very trendy space above Folkster in Temple Bar and is kitted out amazingly. Bright white walls with pops of colours throughout. Minimalist styling stations, with hanging down incandescent light bulbs and cosy seats for chatting with your stylist. And, thankfully, there is no shortage of tea or coffee! Daniel used only the best in my hair - all KEVIN.MURPHY products. I've seen this brand mentioned in multiple magazines as being the best of the best. And not only do the products work wonders for your hair, they also look and smell amazing! Daniel first topped up my highlights by using Kevin Murphy bleach. After rinsing he then used a toner which neautralises any brassiness in blonde hair. *Top tip, I also use a ' purple shampoo ' ...
