Signing our contracts!!

Image
So as you may have seen on my Facebook /Snapchat, that myself and Dean signed the contracts for our house last week! Technically once that is done there is no going back so I was shitting myself it was definitely a nerve wracking experience! But things are far from finalised and of course, the house is still not built. But at least the deposit is paid, so I thought I'd fill you in on the process of getting this far. I've broken things down into a bit of a timeline as it might be the easiest way to follow, so lets's go back to the very start...... 4th April 2017 This was the day we decided to buy the house and we had to pay a €5,000 booking deposit pretty much straight away. We paid this, to the estate agent, and it basically secured the house for us. It's completely refundable if you change your mind (before signing contracts) and it comes off the total deposit needed for your house.  26th April 2017 This is when our solicitor received the contracts which had to be sig

Not Another Skinny Tea Review

Image
So let me start off by saying I am very skeptical of 'skinny' teas and 'teatox' and all that shite. I'm a firm believer in losing weight by eating right and exercising. And no cup of tea is going to change that. But I had a pack of Miss Fit Skinny Tea at home and two weeks ago I said 'sure feck it, I'll give it a go'. If it doesn't work - no biggie, at least I've tried it. So let's get straight into it, you want to know if I lost weight. And the short answer is yes, I did and I'm delighted. Long answer has a bit more to it! So after Christmas 2016 I was my heaviest I have ever been and to be honest I was quite horrified with myself. So since then I've eaten quite well (Monday - Friday anyway) and have gone to the gym about three times a week. That still is working out really well for me and I've lost about 5kg since January. But for the past few weeks my weight has plateaued and that's when I said I'd try the tea. So on t

My Five Fave Palettes

Image
1. Pippa Palette by Blank Canvas I probably got the Pippa Palette about a year after it was launched and even then it was hard to get my hands on. I was ever so slightly underwhelmed when I first saw it as all the shades were very blah . But it turns out blah is good, I am blah! There's six eyeshadows - all matte, a blusher, a bronzer and highlighter. This palette has all the essentials and as you can see it is well used! The colours are very natural and easy to wear, it really is a makeup bag must have. Available here for €34.99 2. Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One Another fantastic palette from the Blank Canvas brand. I managed to pick up this palette at the Irish Beauty Show for €20, instead of the usual price of €35. It was a bit of an impulse buy but I certainly made the right decision. I'd say I've used this nearly ever day since I bought it. The orange/brown colours really suit my eyes and there's a decent selection of colours to mix things up a bit. I did

The Help To Buy Scheme Explained

Image
If you are saving for a house or are already house hunting you may have heard of this scheme. But as with most government schemes, it can be very confusing to get your head around what they are actually offering. As I haven't bought my house yet, I haven't completed this scheme from start to finish, but I have been approved for it. 🎉 So here's what you need to know on how to get to the approval stage anyway.... What is the scheme: The Help To Buy Scheme is a government incentive which helps first time buyers obtain the necessary deposit required to buy or build a house. Do you get free money? Well sort of. What Revenue are offering is a tax refund of up to €20,000 or 5% of the house price (max price €500k) for qualifying newly built homes. Let's break that sentence down: The tax - this is income tax or DIRT (not USC or PRSI) that you (and your partner) have paid over the last four years. You can check how much you paid by logging into your Revenue account or by looki
