The Shit List

Image
I often do blog posts about my favourite makeup products and all the brands I love, but I feel it's my due diligence to inform you of a few products I've been steering clear from! Who else has countless tubes, pots, palettes and what not thrown in their makeup drawers, never to be touched again? I certainely have a good few! So here's some of my favourite.....well - non favourites! Wet n' Wild Mega Impact Mascara Christ on a bike this was bad! This was given to me in a goodie bag and I was sooooo looking forward to trying it out, but I can safely say I'll never use it again. The first time I used it, I was all glammed up and my makeup was perfected for a night out with Dean. It was about two hours later when I checked myself, I could see that I had literally wrecked myself! The mascara had completely moved downwards!! It wasn't only under my eyes, it was even on my cheeks, in blotches! Like how did it even get there?!!! Crownbrush concealer palette It even look...

So about that 6 week challenge....

Image
I'm finally finished my six week challenge and have spent the whole weekend celebrating, by eating everything in sight! If you are following me on Facebook ( The Life and Style of Jen ) or on Snapchat (jenniferdevitt) you will have seen my progress throughout the weeks, but I think this picture sums it up nicely... No, I didn't lose a massive amount of weight but I've definitely lost inches and have toned up everywhere. I'm fitting into smaller clothes, I actually own size 8 clothes again, and have found myself shouting from the changing rooms of shops looking for smaller sizes. And that's exactly what I wanted to get out of this. I can't sit here and say I did everything right for the six weeks, I definitely let my diet slip more than I would have liked, but I ate extremely well 90% of the time.  I also went to the gym religiously, which of course played a big part in this. I went 4 or 5 times a week and (most of) the classes were pretty intense!  But would I r...

Snapchat Favourites

Image
Let's face it we're all hooked on Snapchat, you just can't beat creeping on someone in their natural habitat, while you're in yours! I'm an absolute addict, there's no denying it! I spend all day snapping and when I'm not snapping I'm watching other people's Snapstories. It's like being a fly on the wall, but you can get away with it because they put it out there to be seen - #winwin! So here's a few of my favourite people to creep on follow on Snapchat: 1. Sharon Leavy/ Behind Green Eyes @sharonleavy One word....hilarious. Sharon could be be snapping about paint drying and she'd somehow be able to put a funny spin on it, and she's addicted to makeup! https://www.facebook.com/MissGreenBlog?fref=photo 2. Retro Flame @retroflame1 Erika Fox from Retro Flame has it all, a fabulous figure, mermaid hair, clothes to die for and to top it all off she's living and working in New York!! Her Snaps are non stop events, weekends away to the H...

Hoilday Purchases

With my big American/Canadian holiday fast approaching I was in desperate need want of some fresh outfits! Unfortunately shopping for holiday clothes in August can be a bit tricky, my options were the dregs of the sale rail or completely unsuitable (but fabulous) Autumn/Winter pieces. Although San Francisco will have a very cool sea breeze the other parts of California are currently as hot as hell! But I managed to work with what I was I was given :) The first shop I hit was Forever21, I really thought I'd be spoiled for choice here, but that was not the case! I didn't leave empty handed though, this lovely jacket was only €31.95 and it was pretty much calling my name, so I couldn't leave it behind! Perhaps not necessary for my holidays but it's extremely cosy and I'm sure I'll get plenty of wear out of it over the coming months. You can buy it  here  and I'd recommend you go for a size smaller, I bought an XS, probably the only thing in my wardrobe that s...

My holiday plans!

Image
I'm so excited to finally fill you's in on my big holiday plans! I have been tip toeing around this topic, on Facebook and Snapchat  for a while now  , but didn't want to spill the beans until everything was completely organised. So after months of planning and what felt like millions of hours searching for flights, accommodation and a car, I'm so glad I can finally say I have everything booked! So where am I going?! As you's know my sister Siobhan lives in Vancouver, and obviously I don't get to see her very often. So back in December the whole family decided we'd go visit her, on her new home ground. When the plan was only gathering motion myself and Dean saw this as a great opportunity to do some extra travelling while we're over that way....and then began the stressful task of planning our American roadtrip! And this is the very long, but adventurous, route we're taking to get to Vancouver... So in less than five weeks, Dean and I will be starti...

Week 2: A Week of Highs and Lows

Image
Week two of my six week challenge is done and dusted and I'm so glad to see the back of it! I did five classes this week, one a day since Wednesday and it has left me a broken woman!! Every single part of my body aches and I just want to sleep for days!! During the week I got a bit disheartened because I was really struggling to keep up with some of the classes, as well as seeing absolutely no movement on the scales. It was so hard not to throw in the (sweaty) towel and say what's the point, this is getting me nowhere! But a few things have lifted my spirit, and it's those things that keep me going.  First of all, my River Island sale delivery arrived and half of the clothes were too big! I'm kinda raging because some of the stuff was so nice and so cheap but I'm also delighted that I'm going down a size! As well as that, a few hours ago I bought a pair of my white Penneys jeans, in black, but in a size smaller! It's so hard not to focus in on what the scale...

Face on Sleek!

Image
Last weekend the lovely ladies in Bradley's Pharmacy Blanchardstown gave me loads of products to try out, and to my delight a good few products were from my new favourite make up brand Sleek . I am already obsessed with the Face Form Palette so I was delighted to try out what else the brand had to offer!  First of all Bradley's Pharmacy Blanchardstown has an absolutely massive range of Sleek products to choose from, I also noticed the prices are a tad bit cheaper than some other big pharmacies ;) It wasn't until today that I had the time to properly try out my new products, but if the Face Form Palette is anything to go by, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed! So here's a quick run down of what I used and how I got on! Control Shine & Prime As many of you know I swear by my Mac primer and nothing has ever come close to competing with it for me. But....and this is a big ' but ', we may have found ourselves a serious contender! This primer has a very smooth...
