Yoga at Holistic Nurture

Image
As you may have seen on Facebook or Snapchat, I've taken up yoga!  A new studio, called Holistic Nurture opened up near me and I was invited along to try my first ever yoga class! To be completely honest I didn't really know what yoga involved. Like, would the room be roasting hot? Is it as intense as a gym workout? Do I need to be able to twist my body into a pretzel shape?! Would I be the class eejit falling all over the place? Thankfully the answer to all of the above was no!   As I headed into the Holistic Nurture studio, on a miserable Saturday morning, I was delighted to be instantly relaxed by a clean, cosy room, dimly lit with a few strings of fairy lights and candles dotted around the room. The class started with some simple, slow movements and stretches. Not only were we moving our bodies but the instructor, Marion, also calmly and quietly reminded us that this was a time to forget about the hectic week we've had and let our bodies and minds completely relax. ...

Drinks @Drop Dead Twice

Image
So originally this blog post was supposed to be included in my 'boozy weekend in Dublin' post (on the way), but it was just so good that it deserved a blog post of its own! If you haven't heard of this bar yet - let me fill you in! Drop Dead Twice is a cocktail bar with a twist! Basically each person pays €20 and brings a bottle of their preferred spirit. Once there, a master mixologist whips up each guest five amazing cocktails using the drinks the group brought. You following? Now if you're wondering what you're paying for let me remind you these cocktails aren't your average Sex on the Beach type drinks. You're getting the good stuff! The staff there are passionate about what they're doing so work hard to come up with something delicious to suit your preference. You're also paying for the plenty of other ingredients used like marshmallows, fruit, whipped cream and sprinkles just to name a few! I went with a group of five girls and our selection o...

Full Face Using Affordable Products

Image
After buying a few bargain beauty bits in Boots (now there's a tongue twister for ya!!!) I decided to do yesterday's make up with just drugstore products. I'm no make up snob but I would usually incorporate brands such as Mac, Estee Lauder and Urban Decay into my daily make up routine.  It wasn't hard using products from cheaper brands, some of them are absolute essentials for me, and most importantly my make up lasted all day! Here's the look* I went for with a list of products used below. *It's the only 'look' I know! :)  Primer - Flormar's Illuminating Primer €9.95 - buy here Foundation - Seventeen's Stay Time Foundation in Sand €8.99 - buy here Concealer - Catrice Camouflage Concealer in Porcelain €3.95 - buy here Eyebrows - Catrice's Eyebrow Kit €4.50 - buy here Contour, Blush & Highlight - Sleek's Face Form Palette in  Light €14.49 - buy here Crease Eyeshadow - Makeup Revolution Flawless Matte Palette €10.99 - buy here Lid Eyesh...

Boots Beauty Haul

Image
I feel like I spent the month of September using the last of all my products. How does everything run out at the same time?! So, a trip to Boots was in order! Here's a quick run through of what I couldn't go without for any longer.... Pro:Voke Touch of Silver Shampoo and Conditioner This shampoo is an essential product for highlighted hair! It does exactly what it says - neutralises brassiness. I only use the shampoo maybe every third or fourth wash and it's brilliant for keeping my hair nice and bright. The conditioner is an intensive treatment, which works wonders for dry ends. Seventeen Stay Time Foundation You'll have heard me talk about this bargain foundation before. I first bought it a few months back when it was reduced to 25 cent in my local Boots and I said feck it, I'll give it a go. Turns out it's brill (serious coverage) so I didn't mind paying the full €9 for it second time round. Seventeen Cheek Stamp When I bought that foundation there was a...

The Body Shop Vitamin E Range

Image
A few months back I had a Body Shop voucher that was literally burning a hole in my pocket. I just had to spend it! So one evening I popped into my nearest branch and was ready to buy whatever, anything, I didn't really care. I just wanted new things and had the equivalent of €50 to play with. I think the Vitamin E range was new in store at the time (maybe 2-3 months ago) so my voucher plus some change got me three products. A cream cleanser, a night cream and a serum. The main product I wanted to try was the cream cleanser, as this is generally the type of cleanser I use, and I'm always on the hunt for good ones. This turned out to be my favourite product from the range and one of the best cleansers I have used to date! First of all it smells amazing, not too fragrant but still nice and fresh. The cleanser removed every trace of makeup without leaving any residue on my skin. And the bottle is a decent size too, so it lasted ages. Buy here for €14.50 After I used the cleans...

How To Be A Savvy Shopper

Image
There's no denying I love shopping but I am by no means made of money! I am always on the look out for a good deal, and to be honest they're not that hard to find. Have a look below to see how I save on my shopping.... River Island There is always always always a River Island discount code! Never buy River Island full price! These discounts are usually for 20% or 25% off with purchases of over €50.The codes are usually published in magazines such as U Mag, Image, Stellar or Grazia. I always post the codes on my Facebook page and Snapchat (@jenniferdevitt) but follow The Bargain Buyer and Just The F Word as well, as they always post discount codes too. ASOS Asos are very generous with their codes as well, their codes usually only last for a day or a weekend, but a discount is still a discount! So keep an eye on their website. And don't forget Asos stock New Look, River Island, Boohoo and Warehouse, so if you're after something from the high street, check Asos as wel...

Giving Blood for the first time

Image
So this blog post is a bit of a different one, but after giving blood for the  first time ever  last weekend I thought I'd share my experience, and put any other first timers minds at ease. So if it's in the back of your mind to give blood and you are nervous about any aspect of it, let me fill you in on exactly what you can expect. My first piece of advice is arrive early, I arrived to the clinic 15 minutes before it started and there was still a few people ahead of me, so be prepared to wait! Once it's your turn, you'll be called to a desk and be asked basic details like your name, address, date of birth etc. This takes two minutes and then you'll be given  general information on blood donation  a questionnaire to fill out. The questionnaire has about 50 questions asking about your health, recent travels, drug use and sexual activity. The questions are pretty personal (like have you had sex with a man who has had anal or oral sex with another man?) but obviously t...
