How to keep your makeup in place all day
I'm sure you've heard it millions of times, that skin prep is so important for the best results with makeup. And I hate to sound like a broken record but that really is the case! So let's just get right into it...
I notice that if I don't give my face a proper wash in the morning I'll be quite oily by the end of the day. So I either give my face a quick wipe with a cotton pad and some micellar water or use a gentle face wash to remove any oils that have built up during the night.
Next thing is to make sure your daily moisturiser is actually suitable for your skin. I swear by the No.7 Essential Moisture Day Cream. It's moisturising enough so my skin doesn't feel dry during the day, without leaving me too oily either. Let me stress how important it is to rub your moisturiser into your skin, rather than applying it and leaving it sit there. Even if you can take an extra 60 seconds in the morning to make sure your moisturiser is being absorbed by your skin, it will make a difference.
Same goes for primers. If you're using a primer make sure your moisturiser is well absorbed before you apply it or you're just wasting your time. I have tried and tested a few primers but for me, only two are worth mentioning. First is my ultimate favourite Mac Prep and Prime (approx €29) and then a more affordabale one, Flormar's Illuminating Primer (approx €13). And like with the moisturiser let this settle into your skin for a few minutes before you apply foundation.
Speaking of foundations I can really only think of three that I can rely on for staying in place all day. You've probably guessed it....top of the list is Estee Lauder's Double Wear Foundation. A holy grail foundation for many and my all time favourite. It's a semi-matte finish with unbelievable coverage and paired with the Mac primer it literally doesn't budge.
I also highly rate L'Oreal's Infallible Matte Foundation for it's superb coverage and longlastability (probably not a real word). It has a very light, quick drying texture that needs a tad bit of blending but fantastic for oily skin.
And another one worth a try is Seventeen's Stay Time Foundation. This is a thick, full coverage foundation but has pleasantly surprised me on how well it lasts.
All of the above is what I find works for me, as someone with normal to oily skin :)
