Portland & Seattle
Following on from my previous post, let me finally fill you in on the next leg of our trip - Portland & Seattle....two of America's most hipstery cities!
Myself and Dean spent two nights in both Portland and Seattle and I can safely say I've never drank as much beer in my life, as I did in those few days!
Both cities are known for their large number of breweries, and of course Dean made sure we visited the majority of them! But.....I'm just not really into beer, and we spent most of our time drinking it. So because of that, I'm not exactly raving about the city, but it wasn't all bad....thankfully food came to the rescue! Every restaurant we went to was fantastic and you can't visit Portland without experiencing the famous food truck delicacies! Some roads were completely lined with all kinds of food trucks..... you name it, they sell it! We sampled delicious tacos, grilled cheese and healthy juices just to name a few!

As for Seattle, now that's a place I'd go back to! It will always hold a special place in my heart though, because that's where I finally got reunited with my sister!!! We decided to meet in the town square and even though I was expecting it, I was still an emotional mess when I saw her!
Personally I felt there was more to do in Seattle, and that the hipster vibes weren't as strong there! My sister and her boyfriend had been there before so knew exactly where to bring us. We rambled around the city, which strangely has a massive wall covered in chewing gum! Why it's there....I don't know, it's actually disgusting, but in saying that I couldn't resist posing beside it!
We managed to squeeze in a football game - and all I can say is American fans are passionate! We also visited the famous Pike Place market which is home to the very first Starbucks and also the best place for donuts!! And to top it all off myself and Dean spent our first night on a boat!

We really struggled to find accommodation, (possible because we left it too late) but came across this boat on Airbnb. And sure why not? Who doesn't want to wake up to a view of the ocean? The boast was parked (do boats park??) in the Marina and even though we were in sleeping bags on bunk beds it was perfect!
After a flying visit to Portland and Seattle we drooped our rental car back (three days late) and headed to the border! But that's a story for another day :)
