Haven's Heavenly Facial

Struggling to make it through the week knowing there's nothing to look forward to? Dry January making you miserable? Get out of the house and treat yourself to a relaxing facial! I'd say a lot of people like me are suffering from dry, dehydrated skin at the minute. We're all getting bashed in the face with wind and rain one minute then practically sitting on the office radiator for eight hours! I personally, have taken hostage of the office blow heater. I know it's the worst thing for your skin but it makes me so cosy!!

Fresh faced after my facial
I noticed my normally oily skin was getting very dry so I booked myself in for a long overdue facial...about 10 years overdue! So last night I went to a local beautician who I had been to once before and who a few friends recommended. Haven Lodge Beauty & Aesthetics in Blanchardstown, is owed by Tracy and is a beautiful Scandanavian Log Cabin. It's all wooden and is beautifully decorated with dim lighting, pretty mirrors and chic decorations and because Tracy works on her own you can be sure she's giving you her full attention.

I went for the one hour Thalgo Rebalancing Seaweed Facial which is usually €45 but during January there's 25% off all treatments, and even better, all facials include a hand and foot massage as well as an eyebrow wax. I also got my eyebrows tinted so all of it only cost me €40. Here's a list of some of the treatments you can get with the 25% off:

My facial started with me getting onto a heated bed and wrapped with a warm towel, just what I needed after braving Storm Rachel! Once I was suitably comfortable Tracy prepped my skin with Thalgo cleanser, toner and exfoliator. She was so knowledgeable about everything she was using, without sounding like she was rattling off lines.

After I was exfoliated I had the painful but necessary part of a facial...the extraction, which is the professional way of squeezing pores. It was a bit uncomfortable but completely necessary! After a warm towel replacement Tracey massaged Thalgo serum (which smelt delicious!) into my skin and the face massage was amazing!!! She also massaged all across my neck, chest, shoulders and back! I then had the seaweed mask applied and while it did it's magic I was treated to an unbelievable hand and foot massage. I didn't realise how enjoyable an elbow massage could be!

I had my mask washed off with a warm towel and then more cream applied to finish my facial experience. It was honestly one of the most relaxing experiences of my life, just lying there getting pampered while my mind ran away with itself. Just what I needed after a hectic Christmas. I'm already trying to find the time for my next one! I felt and looked so fresh faced afterwards and still can't stop touching my smooth face!
