Halloween Scene
Halloween is only a few days away and even though there's no kids in my house, I'm still decorating for the occasion! I do have a big "Trick or Treat" sign on the halldoor, but inside the house things are a bit more creative :)
I was absolutely dying for the pumpkins to come into the shops so I could get started on the Halloween scene I had been planning!
My favourite part of the whole scene is the munchkin pumpkins!! I have never seen these on sale in Ireland before, but when I came home from work on Friday Dean had three waiting for me! He had picked them up in Tesco (of all places) for 99cent each! They're so cute and look great with the leaves!
I really only decorated my fire place and it was so quick, easy and cheap....and turned out fabulous! So if you like what you see all you need is a few pumpkins and about 20 minutes free time!
First of all I gathered some leaves from my estate which of course are free, I tried to get different types and colours but there's only so much digging through leaves you can do, before you look like a crazy lady!
I picked up the pumpkins from different supermarkets, the big one was €3 in Aldi and the smaller ones are 69cent in Tesco. To decorate the big one I bought two bunches of fake black flowers in EuroGiant for €1 each and made a vase out of the pumpkin. As well as that I had a roll of lace sticky tape (Rua €2.50) and cut a few strips to decorate the pumpkin.
I also bought a pair of star print tights in Penneys for €2 and used them to cover the smaller pumpkins. I cut off sections of the tights, pulled them over the pumpkins and sellotaped the excess at the back. Simples!
Underneath the pumpkins is a Halloween Tull skirt, just for effect :)
The laterns are always on my fireplace but they're from Dunnes, €8 each. And a few tea light candles bring it all together! This would look perfect in a porch or a hall table as well!
I feel I should mention the obvious of being careful with candles and dry leaves!! I don't want to be the cause of any accidents!!
