Oktoberfest Antics

I don't like beer but I love Oktoberfest!!

When my friends were making plans to go to Oktoberfest after work on Friday, I was thinking.....it's not really my scene but I'll go anyway, just to be social. Little did I know it would turn out to be one of those unplanned, deadly nights out.

Oktoberfest is literally just a massive drinking festival! What more could you ask for? There's no dress code and because it's outdoors there's no fear of looking too casual, so you can get away with wearing what's comfortable or go a bit dressier if you want.

The only thing I'd recommend is go early because it was jam packed by 6pm!

If you've never been to Oktoberfest before....it's exactly what you think it is. Loads of people dressed in them lederhosen outfits and everyone swigging  out of steins (them litre sized German beer glasses). Also ladies, it's full of fellas like a good 10:1 ratio ;) And don't be worried if you don't drink beer, the serve wine, processo and soft drinks as well!

Like I said the place was jam packed but there was a great atmosphere, we were making friends left, right and centre. I even bumped into old colleagues, cousins and the very talented singer Gavin James. It seemed like everyone and anyone was out celebrating their love of beer!

And by the end of the night Dean, the ultimate charmer, was practically BFF's with Gavin James himself!

Unfortunately not all my friends got in because of the massive queue so we left early enough to continue ourdrinking elsewhere, but not before I bought myself this very stylish German hat! It was only a fiver, how could I say no?!!

Oktoberfest is on until October 5th in George's Dock and it's free in (before 10pm I think!). There's typical German food as well and sweet treats too! It's definitely worth the trip into town for a great day of drinking, you might as well make the most of this Indian summer!!
