Weekend in Wesport
Right now I'm curled up on my sofa suffering from a horrendous chest infection, so what else would I be doing than reminiscing on last weekend, which was spent in the lovely Westport Plaza Hotel.
I received this weekend away as a Christmas present, so have been counting down to it since then! Myself and Dean headed down last Friday and upon arrival to our room there was some lovely local treats laid out for us, which were instantly scoffed! We enjoyed a quick drink in our room (sent up by Deans dogs, who probably got help from his parents) before heading out to the local town.
The hotel is superbly located so the two minute walk to the pub was not a bother in my Penneys heels. Eventhough it's a small town, I got so many recommendations for places to visit, so trying to fit them all in was a struggle! Westport has no shortage of pubs so we had a few drinks in Cosy Joe's, Matt Molloys & JJ O'Malleys before heading to dinner. Dinner was in a cute little Italian restaurant called Torrino's and well worth a visit if you're in the area.
After dinner we headed back to the room where I tested out our jacuzzi bath!!
On our first morning there we got our slightly sore heads up early for breakfast, then headed to the spa. We went down to the spa an hour before our treatments so we could make the most of the thermal suite. This area includes a steam room, sauna, outdoor jacuzzi, and foot baths. You'd easily spend the whole day there! My treatment was an amazing full body massage while Dean received a tough sports massage. We then spent some time in the relaxation room, before heading back to our suite to get ready for dinner.
We had an amazing dinner in the hotel, which was included in our room deal. The restaurant was busy and bustling so definitely a hot spot for the locals as well us tourists. Our meal was superb to say the least. I went for Cesar salad for starter and steak for my main which were divine. We then headed back to the town for one more drink and let me tell ya Westport on Saturday night does be hopping! It's clearly a popular destination for hen parties and stag do's but the locals were out in force as well.
All in all the weekend was fantastic! The hotel is beautiful, even the restaurant alone is worth a visit! Westport town itself was so lively and fun, everything is within walking distance from the hotel so it's definitely a great option for a weekend away during the summer!
