My Favourite things to do in Dublin

With summer fast approaching it's the perfect time to discover new things in and around Dublin. Whether you are from here or just coming for a visit, here's some inspiration on how to spend your time!

The Phoenix Park

This may seem like an obvious one but you just can't beat the Phoenix Park. Now that the weather is getting better, chances are I'll be visiting my local park at least once a week. I love to grab a coffee from the Tea Rooms while listening to the lions roar from inside the Zoo (literally, they roar crazy loud!), all while doing a spot of people watching.

Most weekends there's a polo match on in the park, and even though I've no idea what's happening, it's still enjoyable to watch. If I'm in he park on the right weekend (first Sunday of every month) I'll make sure to visit the Farmleigh market, where I can grab a delicious crepe and some more coffee! I also have a Dublin Bike subscription which gives me easy access to a bike for a quick cycle around the park.

Dinner & Drinks

I do love a good meal but dining in Dublin can be pricey! More often than not I prefer to go for an early bird or a brunch. My favourite spots are The Market Bar which does amazing tapas, Taco Taco  great for a casual brunch (get the poutine), and Elephant & Castle, famous for their delicious chicken wings! Desserts is always the same - the world famous sea salt and brown bread ice cream from Murphy's Ice Cream on Wicklow Street.

My all time favourite place to go for a drink in Dublin is The Liquor Rooms, the cosy alcoves and vintage interior make it perfect for a romantic date or girly chats. Another very similar spot which I love to visit is the Vintage Cocktail Club, hard to find but well worth a visit. Vintage and cosy interiors with delicious cocktails to match. If the evening is especially warm I'll make sure to visit the boat bar on the quays for a quick tipple on deck. If I'm around Grafton Street more often than not I'll make time to grab a drink in The Bailey, the outdoor seating offers prime people watching and there's always a blanket to hand if it gets chilly.
Out and About

Coffee is a must for me every weekend! I do try to discover new places as often as I can but can't beat some old favourites. One of mine and Dean's most popular haunts is Love Supreme in Stoneybatter. It's a tiny cafe with minimal decor but still so welcoming, and the croissants are divine! More recently I took a trip to Avoca in Malahide, the grounds are stunning and the sizable cafe is extremely inviting. Other cafe's of note have to be Brother Hubbard on Capel Street and my mid week favourite Woodstock on Phibsborough Road.

Weekend Markets

The Smithfield Market in the Generator Hostel is my favourite, it's only on once a month but is worth the wait. There's two floors full of stalls selling food, jewelley, clothing, music and loads more. There's also a bar, restaurant and amazing live music. You'd easily just spend the day there having a few drinks, watching the performers and rambling around the stalls. The Bernard Shaw Market is also well worth a visit, even if it's just for the pizza!

Whatever I end up doing this weekend I'll make sure to keep you informed!
