My Catfish Story

So I was debating whether or not to put this whole issue up on the blog. Mainly because it sounds way more dramatic than it actually is!! It also crossed my mind that it was too personal to share? But I've ended up writing this because at the end of the day, is it something I'd want to read? Hell yes!

So lets go back to the start.....

On Tuesday I got a comment on my personal Facebook page, by a complete stranger who told to check my Facebook messages......

Clearly I did not believe a word this fella was saying, mainly because I'm always on Snapchat talking about how much I love Catfish, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone was taking the piss! Anyway...this fella was blocked from the 'other' Jennifer's profile and when I searched for the name he gave me I couldn't find anything. I was still quite suspicious at this stage, but he told me his friend helped him figure out she was fake, and the friend would try get a screenshot of the profile.

So I eventually came around to the fact that this wasn't a joke. Even though I didn't know how I felt about it, other than slightly freaked out, I got quite a shock when I got a screenshot of the profile.

Whoever this was, they were pretending to be me and if they were messaging one person they could have been messaging plenty more! I put so much information on the blog and my social media sites that this person, or anyone, could easily pretend to be me and get away with it! And some of you may remember, this is not the first time someone has stolen my pictures! It definitely is a major down side to social media but I don't think it's something I should 'expect' to happen.

My picture vs the one found on another page, basically they just cropped my face out!
At the end of the day it's infuriating more than anything. It might be selfish saying this, but I put time and effort into doing my makeup, putting together outfits, taking photos and editing them. It's extremely annoying to have someone just take them and pretend they did it!! Especially the #eyeperfection one, I had my makeup professionally done that day, so they're stealing someone else's work as well!

As for 'Jennifer', she had myself and my boyfriend Dean blocked, but my brother and sister found her page and reported her, thankfully Facebook took the page down immediately. There was no big showdown like the TV show, and I've no idea who did this or why, I'm just hoping it doesn't happen again!
