How I got here...
I've seen a good few bloggers doing this and thought it was high time I did one myself. As my blog and Facebook page is still fairly new, many people might want to know a bit more about my background and who do I think I am to talk about style!
Let's go back to the start.... my interest in fashion began when I was about 19, not very young I know but it has to start somewhere. The day I finished my Leaving Cert I got a job in French Connection in my local shopping centre. It was a pretty sweet deal because I got '100% discount' (we couldn't call it free) on some clothes then a decent discount on others. With that, my sister also got discount in Arcadia shops which included Topshop and Miss Selfridge, so with a shit load of discount my wardrobe really started to grow!
As I continued to work in French Connection (and studied for my Business Degree) I really got my fashion wings, I found myself buying clothes every payday and once the sale hit I'd be eyeing up the best offers. I was sensible enough to know I wouldn't work there forever so made sure I got some really great investment pieces, like coats, shoes and timeless dresses which I still whip out every now and again.
I worked in French Connection every weekend for five years and loved getting glammed up, especially for a Saturday shift when the shopping centre would be packed! When I walked around the centre on my lunch I'd always be stopped and asked where my outfit was from and would gladly point people in the direction of French Connection! I even won a competition with U Magazine for being the most stylish person in the shopping centre one weekend, I was feckin' thrilled!

After five years in French Connection and a Business Degree under my belt, I knew I needed a change so I applied for other similar jobs and was offered the position of Supervisor in Karen Millen. I thought this would open a few doors for me, onwards and upwards and all that, but I only lasted 6 months in Karen Millen compared to 5 years in French Connection. I just wasn't enjoying it at all, the hours were longer and the commute was much longer as well. Basically it just wasn't for me. But I have to admit I got some fabulous dresses there!! Anyway, after 6 months of working there I quit with no other job to go to. I was scared shitless of telling my parents I quit but I knew in my heart it was the right thing to do. And thankfully they were grand about it!

I didn't know what I was going to do but needed out of the fashion (more so retail) industry. A few weeks later as I was offered a temporary job of sitting in an empty office of a brand new tax/accountancy business. So I said yea I'll do it, it'll be a bit of money for me while I figure out what to do next. Nearly two years later I'm still here and I'm loving it!
But I do really miss the perks of working in fashion, like staff discount, styling and working so close to other shops. I said I'd never let my fashion sense fall to the wayside but at least in an office I have more control over what I wear! Yes, in retail I was told what I could/couldn't wear to work, even though I was paying for it!
Keeping it casual for the office |
As far as setting up my blog, it started with encouragements from my friends and sister. I'm very Instagram happy and always get people asking where my outfits are from, or what make up I'm wearing. A few people said it to me that I should set up a blog, so around March/April last year I did just that! I should have been studying, but you know yourself!! I don't own a laptop so pretty much everything is done on my iPhone. So if you do want to start a blog it's so easy!!! It's a very casual thing that I do between working and going to college but it's a great way to keep me on my toes!
So basically that's it, a bit of a story behind my pictures! I get great feedback from people who like or follow me and I love hearing it! And sure who doesn't love giving their opinion ;)
